Lost in KL

Our mission today was to walk to a park. The park where we were going was actually only 10minutes walk or less from our hotel. But somehow me and Andrew managed to get lost and couldnt find the gigantic park. It took us two hours until we finally found the park. That was a long, and many times not verry nice walk. But at least we found the park and we sat down there for a couple of hours finishing our christmas cards. :)  It must be the nicest place in  KL, almost no people and so quiet and beautiful. After that we had no idea where we actually were so we took a taxi to get back. The taxi drove us for around three minutes down a small road before he dropped us off  at the post office close to our hotel. Good work !!

Visa trouble

Andrew thinking? Well not very good :P

I really liked this pic when I first saw it, but I realized now that our ears look like alien ears :)

I had a terrible morning. Really. I woke up 6 o clock and checked my mail just to see if my visa had arrived, as I was told yesterday it might be a problem to get visa fast now because it is xmas times. My visa hadnt arrived yet so I called the embassy and talked to not very helpful people. So instead I decided to take a taxi to the embassy but the taxi driver confused New Zealand with Australia embassy (very similar right?) so I had to pay a lot of money and still walk around looking for the right embassy. The embassy was unortunately closed and I decided to call the embassy again, but again I got to talk with not so helpful people. It was so stressy, and I was running around, going loco and I was so tired. After a while I checked my mail again and I got a nice surprise, my visa was approved. All that running around going crazy swetting tiredness for nothing. The embassy probably think Im an annoying retard, I also send them an email complaining about their response in phone and asked my quiestions again, but I dont care, Im just happy to have it all sorted out. Hopefully they cant cancel my visa just because I annoy them. :)

So yea, that was our day more or less, we were so tired when everything was sorted out, cuz we both fell asleep late last night and did not get many hours of sleep, so we went to our room, did som christmas cards to send home (a bit late I know) and then fell a sleep. We woke up around 7 and went to starbucks for a coffee and two games of chess. I won both times (dont tell Andrew I told u that he doesnt read my blog anyway) And now we are again back in the hotel room, doing absolutely nothing. :)

Preparing for NZ

Twin towers in KL

Our whole day has gone to organize flight tickets, bus tickets and visa for New Zealand. I got an email from the manager of a hotel where i applied for work the other day and they said they have work for both me and Andrew. So we will be flying to NZ allready on friday. We went to a flight company to book our ticket because we did not have enough money on the card we could use, so we needed to draw the money out and book through a company. It took us 2 hours to book our flight ticket  cuz the company actually did not have any money on their credit card. It was a bit wierd but the girls in there was nice and finally two hours later everything was sorted out and we now have our tickets.

No sightseeing today, the picture is from yesterday!!

Kuala Lumpur

Me and Andrew made it to de Health and Fitness magazine, how cool is that??

It was so different arriving in Kuala Lumpur. Its such a big town, with high buildings everywhere. I missed the beach and the silence as soon as I got off the bus and heard all the crazy traffic. The smell the dirt and the crowd made me want to get back on the bus and go back to the island. I didnt do that. I slept in a hotel right next to the railway and didnt sleep much at all the first night.

Today we found another hostel which is much nicer and more quiet, even though its in the middle of china town. Kuala Lumpur is a shopping town, it is shopping malls and markets everywhere. We did spend half of our day in one of the malls and I did some serious shopping. But now my backpack is more than full and my wallet is empty and we still have four days here in Kuala Lumpur. I am sure we will find nice things to do around here. We also went  to have a look at the twin towers today which is off course something you have to see when you are here.

By the way, we are not really in the magazine, its a fake. Good huh?

Byyeeeeeee

Christmas day

We spend 4 hours on Christmas day,  taking my braids out. It was really a mess after and it took me long time with the brush and a lot of conditioner to fix it.

A late picture from Xmas eve. Me and Andrew went around with Andrews new glasses which he got in present and said merry xmas to people. The adults wanted to take our picture, the kids loved us.

Merry Xmas-swimming with sharks

My lovely grandmother and mother send me some christmas money so I could afford to buy a new camera. Thank you both soo much for that!! By the way, its useless having insurance, they dont want to help at all and I paid alot of money to have one.

I woke up at 4.30 on christmas morning. I was excited as a child just waiting for Andrew to wake up so we could open presents. The alarm was going to ring at 6.30 because one of my presents to Andrew was a snorkeling tour in crystal island and we had to be up early for that. At 6.15 I couldnt wait anymore and I woke Andrew up.
I looked out the door, imagining for a moment that it was snow outside and that I was home with my family, but It was allready sunny and warm outside, but I did have Andrew there which is off course good too. I had all reason to be excited cuz we had a nice christmas tree, which was actually a raindeer but I liked it more than a tree, with 5 presents each under it.

In christmas gift I got

Fireshow chains, that I had allready played with in PhiPhi and Andrew had to persue the owner off them, who happened to be the best fireshow person on the island, to sell them to him

A recreation of Paradise Andrew bought a small box and let an artist paint "You Rock" on it and in it he had put sand and shells and fake water so it looked exactly like the beach we loved so much

A Swedish book the first 20 pages was missing but I think I understood what had happened anyway.

A small bag with candyv and there was also a letter in it

A green dress I had already tried the dress on, and actually I already new that Andrew was going to buy it for me cuz I heard him whisper with the lady in the shop while I was in the change room. I looooove the dress

And Andrew got some nice things too from me, and one thing as I said was a snorkeling tour. The tour was not as expected, the person who sold it to me promised clear blue water and the most beautiful coral in Malaysia. The water was not clear at all and I dont even know if I saw any coral, it looked like stones to me. But when I was snorkeling, three sharks passed me so close so I could touch them, which I didnt concidering one of them had bite a finger off a guide last month. But it was still amazing and I was really happy for it.

I HOPE YOU ALL GET A MERRY HAPPY BEAUTIFUL SNOWY CHRISTMAS !!!

LangKawi

We are now in Langkawi in Malaysia. It is so so so expensive. I really wanted to do diving but it is even more expensive then PhiPhi. Yea well, we found a hotel with ok price and not far away from the beach so we will be spending christmas here.

Malaysia is nice. Its so close to Thailand but so different. Its a muslim country and people are making prairs many times per day. People here are very different from Thailand I think. They seem more honest. They help a lot and I dont think anyone tried to rip us off.

I still havent got a camera, but santa might come tomorrow? :)

I saw a sign today that said internet 50meter, but it was actually only 10meter at the most to the internet place. That made me laugh.

Malaysia

Im in Malaysia. It was a long travel from Phi Phi to Penang yesterday. We arrived 3 hours too late because of the traffic. I was so sad to leave paradise and the wonderful people we met there.

We are trying to figure out where to go next. Our plan was to go to the east coast but unfortunately they have monsoon season now and its not a nice place to be for the moment. So we have to go somewhere on the west coast. We want to spend Christmas on the beach.

I miss all my family and friends so much. Specally now around christmas. Love you all!!

Snorkeling

We took a snorkeling tour to Phi Phi Lay today. It was high waves today so the boat ride was like a roller coaster. The snorkeling was not as nice as in Australia, but it was still very beautiful. We saw the beach where they shoot the movie "The beach" It was beautiful.

Our new expensive super good waterproof camera decided not to be waterproof anymore and now we dont have a camera anymore. Please Santa give me a new camera!!

At least we got one snorkeling picture.

Pics from paradise

Finally after 2months in Africa, 1 year in Australia and 6 weeks in Asia, I am starting to get a tan, which you cant really see her, but I do.

Our home for now, did you know that Phi Phi actually means paradise on earth

Me jumping through a ring of fire.

Bamboo huts on PhiPhi

After a short walk around the Island we found paradise. Such a beautiful beach surrounded with palm trees and white sand. On the beach they had small bamboo huts with a perfect view over the ocean. We rented a tent from them and put it in the hut for only 200 baht per day (which is around 50kronor so 25 kronor each). Me and Andrew are the only people staying there. Its a private beach so there is not many people at all coming there. We woke up this morning with the whole beach for ourselves.

And on the night times monkeys are walking around on the beach and at 12 midnight there is a meteor shower. Thats not all, we also are sleeping on the sunrise side which make the mornings even more perfect.

I love this perfect vacation!!

Sleeping under the stars

It is just as romantic as it sounds. Except all the ants all over our bodies when we woke up, but thats not too bad. This Island is so expensive. Its still cheap if you would come from Sweden and have a vacation here, but if you travel like we do and are used to half this price, its to expensive. So me and Andrew decided to try to save some money and sleep on the beach. It was not too bad. We bought a mattress and a mosquito net. It is really warm so we dont even need a blanket.

A resort place is taking care of our things and we just spend our time on the beach, playing guitarr, reading, writing, swimming. Its perfect !! I looove it !! Last night the resort took out heaps of instrument to the beach and we were all sitting on the beach jamming around a fire

This morning we woke up with the sunrise and we went directly down to have a swim in the ocean and a jog on the beach. My first exercising for 5 months haha. I am not really fit anymore but it wont take me long Im sure.

We are just living the free life, its great !!

Lucia on Phi Phi

I have tried to explain for many people about Lucia but I sound a bit loco when I talk about candle in the hair and ginger cookie men so people usually just think its crazy talk, but today, at Phi Phi Island in Thailand, a Lucia train full with singing Swedish people walked pass and Andrew got to see his first Lucia train. He wasnt very impressed, he still think its crazy. Anyway, happy Lucia all swedish people :)

Phi Phi is really nice, but so expensive. Accomodation and food is double price. And there is so many tourist. I really like the beach and the ocean is beautiful, but for our moneys sake we probably wont stay too long.

27hours bus

After 3 buses, one minivan one taxi and 27hours of travel we are now down in Krabi which is South Thailand. We are only here for tonight and tomorrow we will catch a boat out to one of the beautiful islands outside Krabi. I am so tired I cant write.

I forgot to tell you all that the bike ride in Laos ended up being 1700 km. :)

Bike is back

Me on the bike

We are back in Pakse and our final payment for dropping the bike and breaking the mirror was 38 000kip. Which is around 5 dollar so thats not to bad.:)

It was really a nice bike road trip and I am sad that its over. But all good things must come to an end (ore maybe not all I hope!?) and I am ready to go down to the Islands and chill out for a bit..

We will take a bus over to Thailand today allready and try to catch a night train to bangkok later tonight.

Phou Asa to 4000islands

This place is supposed to be relaxing place. If I wanted to relax I would lie in a hammock on an island on a beach with a book in one hand and pina colada in the other. This place is more booring than relaxing. I am on the biggest Island of the 4000 Islands. I dont know if it is 4000 islands here? Maybe if they count all weed things sticking up in the water. Anyway. I try to relax and make the best of the situation. It sucks to relax when you have a motorbike waiting for you to do something cool.

It is nice and we played with some local kids for a bit and took a bike ride round the island. Tomorrow is the last day with the bike and the last day in Laos.

Pakse to Phou Asa

It was my time to drive today. Andrew took us out of town cuz I dont want to drive in the traffic yet. It is so much you have to concentrate on. Not only the gears and everything else with the bike. On the actuall big road you have to watch out for cows, buffalos, sheeps, dogs, pigs people, kids, chickens, and crazy drivers. Yea Well, I was doing a good job today and we both survived :)

We went to a really nice waterfall to chill out for a bit. Then we drove to a nationalpark where they have a place called Phou Asa. Thats a mountain with old stone piles on it. We took an elephant ride up. Our elephant didnt really want to walk and it took us 2 hours for a 1 hour ride. So we got double up for the money. We are staying in a homestay tonight in a small village. Its a nice man and woman, I think. They dont speak english so they might be smiling and calling us idiots.. who knows? :) I dont think so though...

Motorbike Thakek to Pakse

It is so hard to find your way around here without guide. I mean, its possible but it takes time. We have one map we bought from a map shop which shows the whole Laos, and we also have a travel map we got from one of the guides in the motorbike shop. The same citys on the maps have different names. But thats not the most confusing. You read different names on the map, but when you actually arrive to the place, its not even the same name on the village. And then when you are in the village, you are now really confused cuz its three different spellings, but similar pronounsiations, so you ask someone in three similar but with a bit different pronounsiation if you are in the right place, but they just stare at you like you are from the other side of the earth, which you are but thats not the point, and then they say that they dont know.

And its funny. When you show people here, or people from Thailand the same, a map over the town you are in and you ask them how to get to a special place. They allways take the map. Turn it around, study it really hard, thinks about it, call in their friends for help and suddenly you have five people studdying the map. And they all look like they have no idea on where they are ore how their town actually look. But they allways give you an answer, but you cant count on it to be the right way. You have to ask at least 5 people and go for the average. You got to love these people. :)

Today we drove, and we drove and we drove. Andrew tried to drive as fast as possible with two people and a backpack so we wouldnt arrive too late to Pakse. It was maybe 400km and it took around 7 hours, with a couple of stops for gas and food. The travel today was not really beautiful, but it was fast and furious !!

Motorbike through Laos day 2-3

Today I drove the bike for the first time, I even rode it over 100km per hour (haha maybe not very fast but fast enough) Wohoooo !! It was so much fun. It took me a while to get the gears right, and I had to stop the bike many times to try to figure out what to do next, but after I while I rode the bike like Valentino Rossi.

Laos is so beautiful. Yesterday we went to a cave and it was such a nice place. We were too late to catch a boat in to the cave, so it was another mission incompleted, but the surrounding was so perfect that it didnt really matter. That was actually the only tourist sight we went to.

We have to ride a lot to get to our destination in time. But the riding is so bautiful. If I could I would have put in a photo and you guys would probably look at it and think "that looks nice". But where we have been riding is not nice, it is even hard to put words on it (specially in english hehe). To understand it you have to be there, you have to see the mountains surrounding you, feel the feeling of riding in 100km/h, breath the air that is around and listen to the sounds. It is amazing. No picture and no words can really give you that feeling. I loove it !!

And after all that you stop the bike, jump off, clean the hundred dead flies away from you face. Do some ass exercises cuz you get pain in your bum from riding hour after hour. But thats just something you got to take. Four more days on the bike to go.

In a bit yaaaaa!!!

Motorbike Vientiane to Paksan

Today we left. We are going to travel 600 kilometers, ore even more to reach our destination.

On our way today we went to an elephant observatorium, but we saw no elephants

We also went in to a nationalpark to see two waterfalls, but we saw no waterfalls

The reason why we didnt see any was because we fell on the dirt road and the road was to ruff for us to go on. I hurt my leg and have two nice war injuries. We broke the mirror too but we went to fix it. It looks really fake and I dont think we will get away with our quick fix.

Sometimes the travel is more important than the actual goal. We didnt see what we were supposed to see, but we had a lot of fun on the way.

THIs IS A PICTURE OF A BROKEN MIRROR  It doesnt work with pictures again... next time maybe !!

Vientiane

When we arrived in Vientiane we were met by a big cloud and we all thought it must be a serious fire somewhere in town. But I asked a local girl who told me that they were just killing mosquitos and they are doing that 3 times a month because they have so many. I cant really imagine how this place would be if they didnt do it, it is still so many mosquitos here.

I dont like this place at all. It is so expensive and so dirty and so big. We are all agreeing that this has been the worst place we have been in so far on our travel. We stayed for an extra day anyway just because we had to organize our things. Toby and Victor will be leaving Laos tomorrow to go back to Thailand and me and ANdrew has rented a motorbike and will be traveling Laos for 7 days. I am really looking forward leaving this city.

I just wanted to tell you all that I do read your comments but usually I dont answer cuz I dont know if you read it anyway, you have to go back and look for it dont you? I am so happy that all my favorite people in the world is reading. Even my grandfather wohoo !! Love you all :) And if you want to email me my mail is [email protected] I answer there !!

In a bit yaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

Late pic tubing

Me tubing

Tubing in Vang Vieng

I cant upload pics from this computer.. will put in later !!

We did it. Yesterday we tried the famous tubing in the backpacker party town Vang Vieng. We started off sharing a bucket at 12 noon. It wasnt so many people there in the beginning but the tuktusk came with more and more poeple the whole time and after an hour or so it was packed. They had really high swings which you used to jump in the river, and slides and gliding swings. After a couple of drinks and with a persuation from a swedish girl who said that she would hunt me down for ever and laugh at me if I didnt try it, I finally tried one of the swings. I heard many peopla had broken legs and cracked their head open so I was really scared, but it was soo much fun !! We got to about 4 clubs, dancing drinking and a bit of tubing, then it was already time for us to leave the tubes back. We didnt go further than we could see the first club the whole time, but we had heard that if you wanna stay on the tub following the whole river treck, you will just lie in the tube freezing for 1 hour anyway. Oh, if you dont know what tubing is I will now explain. You follow the currents in the river lying in a tractor tube. And on the way you are passing many bars. If you want to stay in a bar someone throws a rope out for you to catch and then they drag you in to the bar. Its cool !! I had so much fun yesterday. It was my first time party since we started travelling 4 weeks ago.

Vang Vieng is really nice. The mountains and the river are surrounding the small little town and the people here are very nice and friendly. It is so many backpackers and fun fun fun town. But today its already time for us to leave. We will take a bus soon to go to the capital city Vientianne. We are all a bit hang over and will use the 4 hour bus time to sleep it off.

In a bit yaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

Bad consious?

I dont know if thats spelled right? consious? when u feel bad? haha.. yea well.. I wonder if the people in Thailand and Lao goes home with a bad consious after work concidering they are lying and trying to rip people off alot.? HmmM There must be honest people too.. I have met some, I think...
I am walking away from the shops sometimes with bad consious when I have bargain the price so it went down more than half price... Like yesterday.. I bought a book that started on 45000 but I got it for 20 000 (gooood work huh???) I dont know if she even made money on that book? Thats like 20 krones. I heard sometimes you can bargain the price for less than making it price just because they need some money for the day..

Im in Vang Vieng now. We didnt take a tuktuk from the station, we walked maybe 15 min to get to town, even if the prices on tuktuk went down down down... We were stubborn. And we found bungalows for 20 000 kip each per person, and we have a woonderful view from them!!
Good wooork :)
