Chiang Mai on moped

Andrew at market

We took the train from Pak Chong back to Ayutthaya around 10 in the morning. We did not looking forward to the 3 hour train journey back on the hard benches, but we had to go back to be able to get to Chiang Mai. The train was ful and we ended up standing the whole way. And when we arrived in Ayutthaya they told us that our train to Chiang Mai was full. They said we could travel with second class if we wanted but that would cost us around 500baht each, instead of 250, so we decided to wait until 11.30 in the night to catch the next 3 class train. We didn’t do too much in Ayutthaya, just had a walk around town and sat by the river. it’s a very nice town but because we already had been there we didn’t want to spend more money there.

If you want to travel cheap you will feel it for sure. It only costed us 260 baht (less than 10dollar) to travel 14hours up north, but it was cold on the train and hard benches to sit the whole night. But when we arrived in Chiang Mai we were stil happy that we saved the money and it was worth it.

When we arrived in Chiang Mai we went to the tourist information to see where we could find a good hostel. As usual the tourist information was not a real tourist information, it was run by one of the hostels, but we were so tired so we did not want to go through the trouble of looking around ourselves. The hostel was very cheap anyway and it was in the middle of town, so we jumped in to the truck which took us to the hostel for free. It is a beautiful hostel. Big room and our own bathroom with hot shower. And the price is only 300baht per night. I love it. SK Junior is the name of it. Niiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today was our second day in Chiang Mai. We didn’t do so much yesterday cuz I was really tired and Andrew too. But today we rented a scooter and drove around on some sightseeing. It’s a bit crazy to drive in Thailand. As I said before the traffic rules are not really working and people drive lika they want to. I really believe that all people in Thailand could be racer drivers. They are all crazy. Anyway we started of with an almost accident but after that it was fine the whole day. We went up a high mountain. Touristy like we are we didn’t bring any warm clothes and it was freezing up there. We were shaking. The view was very nice and the villages was cool so I will have good memory from it, even if all my body parts almost fell of me.

Then we went to the lake and it was really nice there too. They had restaurant all around the lake. The fishes you ate you could choose yourself from the water. How freaky is that?

On the night we took a walk in the biggest markest I even been at, Chiang Mais Sunday market. It took us two hours too find our way home after cuz it was just a big market all over and everything looked the same. They sold everything you can think off, and everything you cant, and some things that you don’t want to think off. It is a mad market. I didn’t buy anything though. Haha it sucks but I have no space in my backpack for shopping, so I cant. But I still loved it. Something happened that was really weird. At 6pm everybody in the market, thousands of people, just stopped walking, talking and I think some people even stopped breathing. And from the speakers they played Thailands national athem. They do it everyday at 8am and 6pm. Weird.

So Chiang Mai is great !!
